Tuesday the 19th day of July, 2016 part of the U-report UNICEF team met with some legislators on how to incorporate the voices of U-reporters into the decision making process.
The U-report UNICEF team met with Senator
Olusola Adeyeye and Honorable Adedapo
Lam-Adesina, the essence of the meeting was to
ensure that feedback from
U-reporters also gets to the leaders in
order to influence their decisions and make laws on what affects community
members the most. Senator Olusola Adeyeye (Chief Whip)
representing Osun central constituency and Honorable Adedapo Lam-Adesina representing Ibadan North
East/South East Federal constituency both expressed their interest in using the
U-report platform to do more in their respective constituencies, ensuring
that issues raised by community members are well represented as policies and
decisions that concern them are made.
U-report will continue to push for such inclusion at the highest level of decision making in the country in order to ensure that polls are not just sent out but feedback received is well used by the leaders to guide policy and implement programmes. More meetings are planned in the near future with the larger group of senators to officially kick start upstream engagement at that level with the 1.4 million users registered today.
